Caroline Dowling and Logan Sharpe, PES students died on May 18 and May 19

Two Patterson Elementary School (PES) student passed away in Pierce County over the weekend. Caroline Dowling, a 5th grader passed away from injuries sustained in an All-Terrain Vehicle accident on Saturday, May 18, and Logan Sharp, a 1st grader passed away on Sunday, May 19. “Please pray for the families, students, and PC Nation as we mourn the loss of these two students. The empty chair represents so much more than just a chair on days like today,” Pierce County School District wrote.

According to county officials, the accident occurred around 7:00 p.m. As a student, she was a member of the A/B Honor Roll, she served as a student house leader for the House of Amistad in the school year 2021-2022, and she was the recipient of many school honors, including the best performance in Reading, the highest average in Social Studies, the PBIS award, the PE award, and the Young Authors winner in 2022. In addition to being a member of the Patterson Elementary Beta Club, she was a finalist at the Georgia Elementary Junior Beta State Convention, a delegate to the Junior Beta National Convention, a winner at the Jr. Beta State convention in both 2022 and 2023, a member of the Beta Musicology team, and a member of the Beta 3D state champion team.

Caroline was an enthusiastic member at the Pierce County Recreation Department, where she played basketball and softball and loved being a pitcher. She was a sports enthusiast and enjoyed participating in the department’s activities. In addition to playing travel softball with the Aces and Barn Ballers, she was a part of the 12u Pierce County Softball All-Star team at the time of this writing. Last week, Caroline received the prestigious news that she would be joining the Pierce County Middle School softball team for the upcoming academic year.

According to Patterson Elementary School, Logan was full of life, spunk, and smiles. They grew to love him in the few short months that he was a part of our PES family. He was a special boy with an excited spirit for life that will be remembered forever.

Caroline Dowling Funeral Arrangement

There will be a funeral ceremony held at First Baptist Church in Blackshear on Wednesday evening, May 22nd, 2024, at five o’clock during the evening. A subsequent interment will take place in the Ramah Cemetery in Mershon. On Wednesday from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., the family will have a gathering in the church for their friends.

The family has requested that all of her softball teams, including Aces, 12u All-Stars, and PCMS Softball, as well as the Sunday school class for kids in the fourth and fifth grades at First Baptist Church, and all of the students in the Pierce County High School Class of 2031, who are now in the fifth grade, serve as honorary pallbearers before the funeral service. It is requested that you arrive at the church by 4:30 p.m.
